Clients often have questions regarding our headshot sessions; the way we work, how they receive their photos etc. With that in mind, we hope these frequently asked questions will answer any queries you may have. Alternatively, if there's anything else you'd like to ask or would like to double check, contact Matt on 07814 960751.
How do I book Northern Headshots?
To book us for your headshots, you can use our dedicated booking system, call, text or WhatsApp  Matt on 07814 960751 or email us at hello@northernheadshots.co.uk
We work around your plans to find the best time and date for the session. If it's a team shoot, we know it can be difficult to get everybody together on the same day. We often find that timing the session around meetings, product launches, classes, etc. can work.
Can we mix business headshots, editorial, etc. in the same shoot?
Absolutely, and we do this on a regular basis. We put together packages for organisations that include headshots, offices, studios, and staff photos as well as any other set-ups that will make your organisation look great.
Can you photograph groups?
We often produce full group images and if we can, produce a digital composite to include those that may have been away on the day of the session.
How can we see the photos from the session?
Your unedited images will be online a.s.a.p. for you to proof. Typically within 72 hours, and quicker depending on how busy we are. We'll send you an email with a link to your own password protected gallery where you can then pick and choose your favourite image(s).
Can you shoot full body as well as headshots?
No problem. A number of our sessions include ¾ and full length body shots.
Can you recommend a hair and makeup artist?
We work regularly with local hair and makeup artists. Email us at hello@northernheadshots.co.uk, and we'd be happy to put you in touch. Hair and Make-up services are always charged separately.
Are your headshots in landscape or portrait format?
For professional headshots, we generally shoot in landscape format. The photos can then be easily cropped to portrait format in post-production. Many clients still prefer to have images in portrait format, and that's absolutely fine. If you're not sure, we're always keen to chat with your marketing people to make sure the pictures are sent exactly as you need them.
Are you able to replicate our current style?
Sometimes we are asked to replicate a certain style that an organisation has used before. Single colour backgrounds aren't usually a problem. But if it is a certain environment or place, we will likely need to be able to work with that background again, or at least an existing headshot to work from. We'll do what we can to make sure your images will have the continuity of your current branding.
What type of backdrops are available?
We stock a number of different backgrounds for your headshot session. Have a look through our site for examples of what we can set up for you. Also, if you have a particular idea or background in mind, we'll do our best to get this set up.
Where can I use my headshots?
After the session, you will receive a link to your images where you will be able to download a number of different file sizes, from high resolution through to low resolution. High resolution files work best for print, whilst low resolution files are best for sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Spotlight etc. Your marketing or digital team should be able to crop files that work best for your requirements, but we're happy to resize if need be, no charge.
What is your cancellation/change of date policy?
We want to help if your plans change. We completely understand that peoples' diaries are subject to change. Give us as much notice as you can and we'll be able to rearrange without any cancellation fees.
Do you retouch headshots?
Each headshot image you choose is digitally retouched simply to make you look your best. No filters, no effects. We produce natural-looking portraits with a minimum of retouching.
When will I get my final headshots?
We look to get your fully edited photo(s) over to you as soon as possible. Unless you've opted for our next day service, your photos will be edited within 72 hours your order.
How can I make payment?
We accept payment with debit or credit card via our online booking system, PayPal or bank transfer should you prefer. Please contact us if you wish to make payment via another method.
Could you help me choose my headshots?
We're more than happy to help you make your selection, but don't feel you have to go along with our opinion. Narrowing the selection down to a wider variety of images often helps, and then take it from there.
How big are the final digital images?
Once the photos are edited, you'll be able to download them in a range of sizes. Full-resolution images are 4000px on the longest side and around 4.0MB in file size.
What if I delete my files?
We recommend you back up your photos in a few different places. Google Drive, IDrive and DropBox are good secure options. But if disaster strikes, we keep copies of all our shoots for at least three years, just contact us and we'll be happy to help.
Where is your studio?
Our studio is on Shire Croft in Mossley, Greater Manchester. There is free street-parking available at all times. We are close to Ashton-under-Lyne town centre, a 10 minute drive from Junction 23 of the M60 and a 25 minute drive from Manchester city centre. We are also just a 15 minute walk from Mossley Railway Station.
